The Knucker Dragon is a legendary creature said to have lived in a deep pool, or “knuckerhole,” near Lyminster in Sussex. Described as a water-dwelling dragon or serpent, it was feared for terrorising the local area.
According to the most well-known version of the story, the dragon was defeated not by strength, but by cunning. A local boy—sometimes described as a shepherd—tricked the creature by offering it a poisoned pie. After eating it, the dragon died, ending its reign of fear.
