The Legend: The tree, sometimes called the Skeleton Tree or Hanging Tree, is a prominent feature in local folklore, situated near the Grove Lodge roundabout in Worthing.  At Midsummer’s Eve, at midnight, it is said that skeletons rise up from the roots of the tree and dance around it until daybreak.
