Sarah Watson, Magpie, Chanctonbury and Good Morning Captain

So.. the Magpies. Oh, when I was painting my magpie at home, there was one on the roof. And as I said it was my first time using gouache. Yeah, and I use that because watercolours are a pain in the arse. And I use my favorite brand. I have the water soluble pencils, and I had the sticks, I found they were like palettes, and I use posca pens, and I use these fine tip pens. It takes ages ‘cos I’m a perfectionist. And I like patterns and textures, and I think art should be more touching paint. I think art is pretentious, “Oh, you should not do this.” “This is not the right thing to do.” And that’s the hardest part for me. I just like doing it because it’s why I express myself. I just don’t like it when it’s all telling you got to do this and this, and I just do it as the way I feel and not like these elitists, posh, “Oh, you got to do this way.” Art is art, art is for everybody. People like my artwork. I struggle with the process. So, I hate it sometimes because to me it’s emotionally attached. it’s information overwhelming. I just do what I do, what I know, I just want to get it done, end of. and just don’t give me all this structure. I find art shops like sweet shops I can’t stop. I will spend hundreds, so my mum has to refrain me.
