Spotlight: Debbie Caulfield

It’s Revell here and welcome to the 2nd blog post from Figment Arts. In this post, I will shed some light on one of our members, which is Debbie Caulfield.

Debbie Caulfield has been a member of Figment Art since 2022. She first joined the group when we worked on a project on loneliness and since then, she’s been a regular member of the group, going to our art sessions and events that we put on.

She creates work involving people and creatures, engaging and communicating against the backdrop of seasons. Her work has been in various exhibitions in Sussex and I caught up with her to find out the work that she will be creating for our new story maps projects.

Revell – How long have you been doing art for?

Debbie – I have been doing bits of art in my teens. Then stopped and didn’t get into it again until my early twenties.  I started art polytechnic when I was 23 years old and carried on art ever since.

Revell – How would you describe the work that you create?

Debbie – The way I describe my art is drawing and watercolor painting creatures and people engaging with each other against the backdrop of the seasons. That is how I like viewers to see and interpret my work.

Revell – What work are you creating for the Story Maps project?

Debbie – The work I’m creating for the story map project is a story and a series of iPad drawings using pro create software called ‘The Attrees’ which I have finished and has now been made into an animation short movie.

Revell – What was your favourite art exhibition/gallery that you went to?

Debbie – I don’t have a favourite exhibition or art gallery because everyone that I have been to is very special and individual in their own ways.
