Collaborative painting – Magpie

This magpie painting is large and stretches out over about two tables in length. On the left hand side, there’s a large yellow sun setting or rising behind a wavy sea in the sea, two octopuses dancing around in the waves.
There are a couple of mermaids and a rainbow above them, and above that there are a few butterflies, white clouds and blue sky.

As we move across the painting from left to right, there are fish leaping out of the water and in the centre of the image dominating, There’s a large black and white magpie, wings outstretched, flying away from the sun behind it.

A little way in the distance is a smaller magpie. This one has its wings raised as if it’s about to flap them. Moving further across the painting. The seasons change and we seem to move into autumn. There’s a huge oak tree on the right hand side. It’s straining over to one side, and the brown and yellow leaves are being blown away by the strong wind. Below the oak tree are green bushes and grasses. There’s a small hedgehog and an even smaller fairy hiding in the nook of the tree.

One for sorrow, Two for joy. Three for a girl, Four for a boy Five for silver Six for gold Seven is a secret never to be told. When I was doing my artwork I saw a magpie. And it was looking down at my house. And I said ‘good morning captain’ when I was drawing a magpie. It’s supposed to be Good luck. I go, ‘Good morning captain’ and if I see another one, I say ‘good morning captains.’ So this looks like summer, and when you get to the opposite side it looks autumn and Spring. how many magpies are there? one, two. Two for joy. Yeah I love, I just love the downs. They’re all there. The Magpies flying over the downs. And they literally just live on the downs.

Trees. You won’t get those big trees in town. So those are outskirts. I like that there’s a magpie and then there’s an oak tree, because often magpies plant oak trees because they hide the nuts and then they forget about them and they start growing. The thorn is the mother of the oak because birds, like jays and magpies plant the oak saplings. And by the side of the thorns, and then it protects the oak tree, and then the oak tree grows up in the middle of a thorny patch sometimes. And you see that when you’re walking over the downs. I like the trees, because they are like a firework of colour, of autumn colour. I love autumn colour. and it’s very windy. Sea looks choppy. Yeah, it’s a big yellow sun.
